“The Vault” Boot Camp Workout #7: Dirty Dozens

The first year or two when I started my personal training / boot camp business, I tried to write and come up with ALL the workouts I would use with training clients myself.

Then I discovered a few trainers – who I really loved and jived with in terms of workout style etc – and it changed EVERYTHING.

I could get ideas – even done-for-you workouts! – save TONS of time, and actually get my clients better and more effective training sessions.

It was – and is, because I use the same approach to this day – a true win-win!

One of those people who I’ve followed since the beginning is Alicia Streger.

“The Vault” Boot Camp Workout #7: Dirty Dozens

Warm up (5-10 minutes)

As a Group: Have your campers perform the following 4 exercises for the stated number of reps and repeat for 5 sets total.

5 Deck Squats
10 Squats
5 Push-ups
10 3″ Lunges — 10 each leg
X 5 total sets

2-3 minutes Rest

As a group: Have your campers perform dirty dozens. Have them perform the 2 exercises and complete 12 reps of each, then 11 reps of each, then 10 reps of each, and etc. all the way down to 1.
There are 3 different sets. Rest 2 minutes between each set.

Set #1:

One-Legged deadlifts on each leg and Jump Squats

2 minutes rest

Set #2:

Frog Jumps and Spiderman plank each leg 12 left, 12 right, 11 left, 11 right…

2 minutes rest

Set #3:

Tricep Kickbacks and One-arm Bicep Curls (be sure they are curling at least 8lbs)

2 minutes rest

*For early finishers give them 25 floor jacks, 25 power jacks, 25 reg. jacks, and 25 butt kicks)

As a group: Ab Finisher. 2-3 sets of the below…

20 Mountain Climbers
10 Reverse Crunches
20 Body Saw
10 Russian Twist
1/4 mile easy run

Cool Down & Stretch (5-10 minutes)

100k Strength Coach Biz in 90 Days? (special report)

[Trainers / Coaches] why your business is failing – and what to do about it

Today’s message is for all the trainers and coaches out there who aren’t getting the results they want in their fitness business.

It’s also for those who are getting OK results, but KNOW that they could be doing so much better.

You see, the core of your fitness business success comes down to three components:

1 – Your ability to consistently bring new folks into your business – to market and generate new leads

2 – Your ability to turn those leads into paying clients – to get folks to sign up for your programs

3 – Your ability to get awesome results for your clients, get them to buy into your program, train with you more often, take advantage of the different services you offer, etc

That’s it.

You can add as many details and complicate things as much as you want – but at the end of the day, EVERYTHING you do as a fitness business owner, we can fit into one of those three categories.

Now the big PROBLEM, as I see it, is that the vast majority of fitness business – building information out there is focused on the first two components of this equation.

So ideas on how to get more people into your business by marketing and generating leads …

And info on how to convert those leads into paying customers …

But there’s not a ton of info available on how to deliver better workouts, motivate and inspire, and get amazing results for your clients.

And it’s not you fault – but you have likely been mis-informed.

Because I think the THIRD step in the equation above is arguably the MOST important thing when it comes to your business success.

If you provide an incredible experience for your clients, and get them great results – they can’t HELP but stay, get highly involved in your program, and tell all their friends about how awesome your place is!

So – we agree that getting your clients amazing results and providing an unparalleled experience for them is CRITICAL to your success as a fitness business owner.

But what does this LOOK like? What are the SPECIFIC things you need to be doing to make this happen?

It’s a bit hard to quantify I think. Some people are certainly naturally better at motivating and inspiring than others. And those people tend to naturally be more successful in the fitness industry.

Why Your Training Program Sucks – and What to Do About It

As I see it, when it comes to programming / designing your workouts, you have two main options.

One option is something that’s DONE FOR YOU … like my KB Challenge Workouts Mega Bundle.  You can just take the workouts as written, plug them in, and you’re good to go.

The other approach is to program your own workouts. You take everything that you’ve learned over the years, and plug it into your OWN system.

I know this is the route a lot of folks want to take … and this can be a fine way to do it … but I see two big potential problems.

For one, you need a lot of experience and knowledge to really do it properly.  Most trainers do an okay-to-poor job, when it comes to programming. That’s not even to mention the average training enthusiast who just slaps together a “hard” workout – but without a lot of ryhme or reason, or thought to progression, etc.

And then even if you CAN do a reasonable job when it comes to the programming piece … it takes a lot of time! How to Get an Extra 10 – 20 Training Clients This Week

I sometimes wonder if I was starting again TOTALLY from scratch, and had ZERO existing training business …

Exactly HOW long it would take me to build a “full-time” client base as a trainer or coach?

(I’ll get to exactly what I mean by “full time” in just a sec)

I think, if my livelihood depended on it, that I could do it in seven days.

Here’s exactly what I would do:

1 – Do a survey

I would create a one question survey and ask – what is the worst problem you have right now?

I would send this out to my contacts. If I didn’t have a list of email contacts, I would post it to my Facebook/Instagram/other social audience.

I would give people four or five multiple-choice questions in the survey, and then leave one blank space where they could fill in an answer themselves.

I would wait 24-48 hours, and see what the #1 problem that people needed help with was.

2 – Craft offer that solves their problem

I would make this a short duration and relatively low-cost offer.

For example – if it turns out that people’s #1 thing they need help with is weight loss, I would create a “21 day rapid fat loss” program.

It would be geared towards getting folks to lose weight and see tangible results in 21 days, working with me in their workouts, meal planning, etc.

I would do it in a group setting, to leverage my time …

And I would charge $97 bucks.

 

3 – Roll the offer out

I would set up a seven day enrollment period for the program. And I would go CRAZY telling everyone I knew about it!

I would reach out personally to all of my friends, family and co-workers …

I would reach out to all my email contacts several more times …

I would reach out on all social media channels I regularly used several more times …

I would go to local businesses that had similar potential customers as mine – maybe chiropractors, massage therapists, supplement stores, etc. – and offer them a percentage of the sign-up fees for any of their customers that they sent over …

And I would go probably even spend a weekend day handing out fliers to folks in front of the grocery store, at the mall, at busy coffee shops, etc.

 

If I did this right, I believe that I could quite easily get 10 to 20 people to sign up at $97 each for my program.

This would be an immediate “cash infusion” of $1000 – $2000.

Then, of course, the goal would be to give those people a great experience, get them the promised results and then some, and get them to keep training with me on an on-going basis.

If I got 2/3 of those new folks to stay … and each of them paid $200 per month on average … that would be 15 new clients at $200 / mo each … which is $3000 per month, ON-GOING … all generated from about a WEEK of hard work.

This would be the base clientele for my new personal training business.

And of course, I would only grow it from there. I think I could easily be at 40 or 50 clients by the end of 90 days, just by repeating this same process at the beginning of each month.

 

Now obviously, this is a top level overview of the process.  There are many details that just would be impossible to cover in a blog post.
